(Jacksonville, FL) -- At least six people are facing charges after violence broke out at Saturday’s Georgia-Florida game in Jacksonville.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's office says the agency cannot comment on the shocking videos posted on the socials until all facts are known and investigative reviews have been completed.
A couple of fans got into a fight at the Florida Gators, Georgia Bulldogs game which ended up with JSO deputies getting involved and allegedly beating the two men.
Several videos on social media showed two incidents in which JSO officers apparently using excessive force when dealing with fans. The officers were recorded throwing punches and using tasers.
From the video, it is unclear what prompted the altercation, but two officers in uniform can be seen punching two separate Florida-Georgia game attendees.
The video begins with one officer placing one the fan in a headlock while a witness yells, “Why are you punching him?”
Jeremy Williamson, a UGA fan visitor from Savannah Georgia, said he saw JSO officers punch and taser one man in front of his two children over questions about digital tickets.
Later in the video, the same officer can be seen punching that fan in the back of the head multiple times.
Nearby, two other deputies are seen restraining a different fan as one cop seems to punch him as well.
The video ends with a fan head down while the officer who punched him fan in the back of the head standing over him.
Williamson claims there were at least 20 empty seats in that section which he says, makes the use of force more disturbing.
After witnessing the JSO officers’ misbehavior, he believes Jacksonville should no longer host the Georgia-Florida games.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Professional Standards Division released a statement saying they have opened "administrative reviews" of the incident.
Florida lost 34-20 to rival Georgia in Jacksonville. The Gators fell to 4-and-4 on the season and 2-and-3 in the SEC.
