Florida - Attorney General Ashley Moody is warning about the dangers of "evil twin" scams and urging to Florida residents exercise caution when using public Wi-Fi networks.
According to Attorney General Moody, the scams involve hackers setting up fake Wi-Fi hotspots with names similar to legitimate networks, such as airport or coffee shop Wi-Fi.
Once a user connects to the malicious network, hackers can intercept sensitive information, including passwords and credit card details.
To protect yourself from these threats, cybersecurity experts recommend avoiding public Wi-Fi whenever possible and using a virtual private network (VPN) to encrypt your internet traffic.
If you must use public Wi-Fi, be cautious about the networks you connect to and avoid accessing sensitive information, such as online banking or shopping.
