Tampa Bay, FL - Dengue Fever cases are on the rise in Florida's Tampa Bay region due to standing water left behind by recent hurricanes, prompting health officials to warn residents about the risks and take preventative measures.

Health officials in Florida's Tampa Bay region are warning residents about a surge in Dengue Fever cases following Hurricane Milton.

The storm left behind standing water, creating ideal breeding grounds for mosquitoes, which are carriers of the virus.

Hillsborough County has confirmed four cases of locally acquired Dengue Fever, while the state total exceeds 50. To combat the outbreak, local authorities are working to drain standing water and implement aerial spraying to eliminate mosquitoes.

Health experts advise residents to take precautions to protect themselves from mosquito bites, such as using insect repellent, wearing long sleeves and pants, and draining any standing water around their homes.

Individuals experiencing symptoms of Dengue Fever, including fever, headache, muscle and joint pain, and rash, should seek medical attention promptly.
