(Washington D.C.) President Biden sending a letter to Congress requesting more funding for the SBA and FEMA for Hurricane Helene and prior disasters.
Biden is asking lawmakers to return to the Hill for a special session to pass disaster aid funding following two devastating hurricanes.
Biden says that the Small Business Administration will need to scrape together several billion dollars to help businesses in the southeast recover after hurricanes Helene and Milton.
Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson maintains the position that relief will be passed "after the election" and so far, has resisted bringing lawmakers back from break to D.C.
Johnson says, "It'll take time for states to figure out exactly what they need."
