The Mayor of West Palm Beach has fired the city's police chief.
During a press conference this afternoon, Mayor Keith James announced that Chief Frank Adderley was terminated after the mayor learned that several top commanders within the agency were involved in financial improprieties.
An internal investigation is now underway.
He also says the leadership of the police department has not aligned with the mission of the agency.
Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office Colonel Tony Araujo has been named the interim Police Chief, but the mayor says the move is only temporary.
He is launching a nationwide search for a permanent chief.
