Our friends at the Salvation Army of Palm Beach County hope you'll swing by later this month for an event to raise money for the non-profit's veterans programs.

"You're active, you're physical, you're with people, you're enjoying the time eating and drinking and whacking some golf balls at a place that everybody seems to love, the Drive Shack."

It's called "Red Shield at Drive Shack, Swing for Hope," and Salvation Army Chairman of the Board Robert Bailey says coincidentally, many of those who will likely be there happen to be veterans themselves.

"You don't have to throw a golf ball very far to find a person who's very successful, who's a veteran and who supports the Salvation Army and who loves golf."

The event is Wednesday night, September 25th. Tickets are available to take part and there may even be some sponsorship opportunities still available.

For details on sponsorships Contact: Michelle.Rodriguez@uss.salvationarmy.org or call (561) 312-7125.

Bailey points out that a third of our local homeless population are veterans and 20 percent of those who served in Iraq and Afghanistan suffer from PTSD or depression. The Salvation Army's Center of Hope offers counseling for veterans and that program stands to benefit from this event.
