The Jupiter Town Council has approved the site plans for two new fire stations.

Town leaders had previously approved a plan to stop using the services of Palm Beach County Fire Rescue after decades of doing so, in favor of building its own agency.

The fire stations will be constructed at Cinquez Park and along a spot on U.S. 1. The locations have been selected to optimize response times.

Residents have been fighting the town's plan to start its own fire department, concerned that the services may not be as good but town officials say it will save taxpayers money.

It's expected to open in October of 2026.

Back in January, the town hired 61-year old Darrel Donatto to be its first Fire Chief and gave him the responsibility of hiring firefighters. He left the Town of Palm Beach Fire Rescue Department after 20 years on the job, most recently serving as chief. Donatto was also with the Riviera Beach Fire Department for 23 years.
