WATCH: Reckless Driving Charge In Howard Frankland Crash

TAMPA -- A 19-year-old Spring Hill man faces a reckless driving charge after a crash on the Howard Frankland Bridge Wednesday during afternoon rush.

The Florida Highway Patrol says Rolando Garza was driving a Ford Focus recklessly on the eastbound side of I-275, changing lanes at high speed and forcing other drivers to swerve to avoid a crash. FHP says Garza tried to pass a Lexus in a construction zone. There was no room and his car was forced back into the outside lane, colliding with the Lexus, driven by a 74-year-old woman from Sarasota. That caused the Lexus to slam into a guardrail, flip off the road and crash into a Nissan Frontier parked in the construction zone. The Focus also went into the construction area and collided with a Toyota Camry. The Nissan and the Toyota were unoccupied. Garza and the other driver went to hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.
