Miami Gardens, FL - A month-long search for a suspect in a Miami Gardens gym stabbing has come to an end after the 28-year-old suspect turned himself in to police on Tuesday.
Police say Andrew Floyd Rodriguez faces charges of attempted murder and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon stemming from an incident on May 9th outside a 24 Hour Fitness on NW 27th Ave.
The gym was temporarily closed following the attack.
According to the victim, Rodriguez confronted him inside the gym and made derogatory remarks about his disabled daughter.
A physical altercation ensued, resulting in the victim sustaining stab wounds to his left arm, chest, and buttock.
The victim was airlifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Police reviewed surveillance footage from the gym which showed Rodriguez entering without following proper procedures, searching for the victim, and retrieving a knife from his gym bag before initiating the attack.
The footage also captured Rodriguez fleeing the scene after the stabbing.
Rodriguez is currently being held without bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
He has invoked his right to remain silent and declined to speak with investigators.
