Professional golfer Rory McIlroy has filed for divorce from his wife Erica Stoll in Palm Beach County Monday.
The couple has been married for about seven years and have one child together, 3-year-old Poppy Kennedy.
The couple began dating after McIlroy and tennis star Caroline Wozniacki called off their engagement and got married in 2017.
McIlroy's manager releasing a statement reading in part, " Rory’s desire is to ensure this difficult time is as respectful and amicable as possible."
The golfer, who most recently won the Wells Fargo Championship in North Carolina on Sunday, is set to compete in the PGA Championship in Kentucky this weekend.
