A new bill would remove former president Donald Trump’s Secret Service protection if he were found guilty of a felony.
The Secret Service is required to provide lifetime protection for all presidents, but the proposed Disgraced Act would automatically strip Secret Service protections from anyone who was convicted of a federal or state felony carrying at least a one-year prison sentence.
The “Denying Infinite Security and Government Resources Allocated toward Convicted and Extremely Dishonorable Former Protectees Act” — the DISGRACED Act does not specifically name Trump, but the stipulations would apply to the former president.
The DISGRACED Act is unlikely to pass, as it was introduced in the Republican-controlled House.
