A cell phone tower standoff in Miami has ended peacefully with the middle-aged man climbing down just before 11:00 a.m.
Miami Police Officer Michael Vega says he was taken into custody, but his motive remains unknown.

A bizarre scene is unfolding in Miami where a man has climbed a cell phone tower and is refusing to come down.
Officer Michael Vega says it appears this began at about 1:00 a.m. when the power to the cell phone tower at Northwest 29th Street and 13th Avenue was reported off.
When a T-Mobile employee responded at about 5:00 a.m., he saw the man on the tower, who claimed to be a T-Mobile employee.
Vega says, "The goal here is to bring him down peacefully... have him come down by himself. It is too dangerous to actually try to go up there and forcibly take him down."
It's believed he has some experience because he's throwing to the ground clamps that hold the boxes to the tower.
Some cell service may be affected because of this incident.
In a statement, T-Mobile says: "After our systems alerted us that there was a service issue at this site, which we and other providers lease from a vendor, our field technician responded, determined that there was an unauthorized entry, and called local authorities. We are grateful to the Miami Police Department and Miami Fire Rescue for their response and will continue to support their investigation. Fortunately, everyone is safe and overlapping coverage in the area will continue to ensure customers remain connected."
