Passed Out Couple Arrested in Daytona Beach for Child Neglect

Daytona Beach, FL - A Georgia couple were arrested on Saturday after being found passed out drunk on Daytona Beach with their two young children left unsupervised.

The Volusia Sheriff's Office received a call around 2:50 pm reporting a man and woman, "heavily intoxicated" and passed out on the beach, who were earlier seen with two children.

Body camera footage released by the Sheriff's Office shows deputies approaching 27-year-olds Alyssa Langley and Timothy Stephens, who were found sleeping facedown on a beach towel.

The deputies struggled to wake the couple, prompting them to raise their voices after several attempts.

Footage captured a deputy asking, "Do you have children with you? Are they with you?"

An opened can of beer and other alcoholic beverages were found near Stephens.

Deputies eventually learned the children were located safely at a nearby hotel pool.

Langley and Stephens were handcuffed, with Stephens questioning the arrest.

The situation escalated when Stephens attempted to flee deputies, as body camera footage captured him running a short distance before falling unconscious in the sand.

He was treated at a local hospital before being booked into Volusia County Jail.

Stephens faces charges of child neglect, alcohol possession on the beach, and resisting arrest.

Langley was charged with child neglect.
