Lee County, FL - A man has been arrested for threatening patrons with an ax inside a Southwest Florida gym.
According to the Lee County Sheriff's Office, the suspect, identified as Brian Pedroza, entered the Planet Fitness on Old McGregor Boulevard in Iona carrying an ax and proceeded to threaten patrons on Tuesday afternoon.
A gym member reported seeing Pedroza outside her car, brandishing the ax and yelling threats.
Authorities say Pedroza stopped short of striking the woman's vehicle before proceeding toward Planet Fitness.
A Planet Fitness employee, who wished to remain anonymous, called 911 after a distressed customer reported the altercation.
Employees at a nearby thrift store reported witnessing Pedroza walking past their store with the ax earlier, though they believed he was simply on his way to a job.
Following a brief search, deputies located and apprehended Pedroza at a nearby Dunkin Donuts.
An investigation into Tuesday's incident is ongoing.
No injuries have been reported to police.
