The family of the truck driver who was killed in the crash that also took the life of an FHP trooper wants answers.
The son of Arsenio Mas from Coral Gables has hired an attorney who plans to conduct his own investigation into the circumstances involving the accident earlier this month, which occurred while Patrolman Zachary Fink was pursuing a fleeing felon at a high rate of speed.
The Florida Highway Patrol says Michael Addison had fled one traffic stop in St. Lucie County before getting on I-95.
When he made an illegal U-turn and drove the wrong way, Fink followed him. That's when a semi driven by Mas collided with his patrol car.
Attorney Carlos Silva says he wants to know what Addison was fleeing from.
A deputy was attempting to stop him for speeding that morning and he had warrants for assault and weapons charges out of Broward County.
He's in jail without bond.
