Palm Beach Sheriff Bradshaw Talks Illegal Immigration By Way Of Boats

Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw recently addressed a group of homeowner and condo owner associations in Delray Beach.

He says there were a number of topics discussed, including the continued battle against illegal immigration right here at home.

"Immigration is a big issue obviously with what's going on at the border over there. And of course our border right down here is the ocean. And because we're still the lead agency for regional domestic security here, we deal with people trying to sneak in all the time, on the boats."

The sheriff says that's where PBSO's Marine Unit comes in...

"We stop them out there on the water, we can turn them over to (the U.S.) Coast Guard who's gonna take them back to where they came from."

The Coast Guard works closely with U.S. Border Protection.

Bradshaw spent some time with us, talking about many of the different units within his agency and how they protect residents of Palm Beach County. We'll hear more next Friday. You can also listen to our conversation right now.
