Metal detectors are coming to more Palm Beach County high schools.

Staff members at Dwyer High in Palm Beach Gardens began training with the devices this week and plan to start using them next week. This after two incidents this semester in which students were caught with guns.

The discoveries came within three weeks of each other, with the most recent happening on Friday.

Other schools that will be start using metal detectors next week include the new Dr. Joaquin Garcia High School, Boca Raton Community High and Glades Central High.

That will make 12 high schools in the county that are outfitted with the walk through detectors. School District officials say they plan to have all high schools equipped with the devices by the summer break.
