Man Arrested for Pointing Gun at Parent in School Carpool Line

Lauderdale Lakes, FL - A tense situation unfolded on Thursday afternoon at Central Charter School in Broward County when a parent allegedly pulled a gun on another parent during carpool pick-up.

Deputies were dispatched to the school around 3:20 PM regarding a report of a road rage incident involving a verbal altercation that escalated to one parent brandishing a firearm.

Authorities identified the suspect's vehicle, a red Toyota Tacoma with a Tampa Bay Buccaneers license plate, and apprehended the driver, identified as 39-year-old Gromyko Sugino Gannel of Lauderhill.

Police also located a loaded Glock 19 handgun that was recovered from the vehicle and confiscated as evidence.

Gannel was arrested on charges of possessing a firearm on school grounds.

According to his arrest report, he declined to provide details about the altercation with the other parent.

As of Friday afternoon, Gannel remained held at the Broward Main Jail on a $1,000 bond.

Police say no injuries were reported during Thursday's incident.
