While we wait to find out where a new Brightline train station will be built along the Treasure Coast, city leaders in Indian River County are making their opinions known. They want to see the station in St. Lucie County.
Vero Beach Mayor John Cotugno wrote a letter to the high-speed rail line, saying a Fort Pierce station would be close enough to his city to boost tourism.
Sebastian and Fellsmere city leaders have done the same.
Brightline says it will build a station somewhere in either St. Lucie or Martin County within five years of the Orlando expansion, which happened in September.
An announcement is expected during the first quarter of the year.
