A couple of South Florida Congress members have introduced a bipartisan resolution to condemn sexual violence committed by Hamas in Israel.

Democrat Lois Frankel and Republican Mario Diaz Balart filed the resolution that formally condemns the actions that Frankel says have been happening since the October 7th attack.

"Rape and sexual assault as a weapon of war is unacceptable. It's inhumane. And that includes the acts of Hamas on October 7 that are continuing today."

Israeli police have gathered thousands of testimonies from Israelis who have witnessed Hamas fighters raping women.

The resolution, which has nearly 150 cosponsors, also calls on all International bodies and countries to hold Hamas accountable for their actions and reaffirms U.S. support for an investigation into the sexual violence and supporting survivors.

A closer look at the resolution:

Condemns all rape and forms of sexual violence as weapons of war, including those acts committed by Hamas terrorists on and since October 7th;

Calls on all nations to criminalize rape and sexual assault, and hold accountable all perpetrators of sexual violence, including state and non-state armed groups;

Calls on all international bodies to unequivocally condemn the barbaric murder, rape, sexual assault, and kidnapping by Hamas and other terrorists on and since October 7th, and hold accountable all perpetrators;

Reaffirms the United States Government’s support for independent, impartial investigations of rape and sexual violence committed by Hamas on and since October 7th; and

Reaffirms its commitment to supporting survivors of rape and sexual violence, including those brutalized on and since October 7.
