(Miami, Fla) - Three dozen wounded veterans are cycling through the streets of Miami today with a police escort as part of the Wounded Warriors Project Soldier Ride.

James Hererra is a veteran and former team USA Olympic cycling coach. He oversees the WWP's Physical Health and Wellness program.

He says the community can celebrate the Soldier Ride as the injured veterans reduce stress, anxiety and depression though the social connection.

Hererra says some of the injured veterans are from South Florida while four are from Walter Reed Hospital. Many of them are riding adapted bikes or are using special prosthetics.

"The Soldier Ride welcomes warriors of various skill and fitness levels who are interested in discovering how to ride. No Equipment is necessary - we provide you with access to everything necessary at no cost," according to Hererra.

This is the 20th anniversary of the Soldier Ride, and this 3-day event ends in Key West on Saturday.
