No money until the border is secure. That's the word from Florida Senator Rick Scott, as a partial government shutdown looms.

"My responsibility is to do everything I can to keep the citizens of Florida safe, and opening borders does not keep them safe."

The Republican has signed on to a pledge from the Immigration Accountability Project and asking every member of Congress to join him.

The pledge calls on President Biden to sign legislation that at a minimum requires all illegal immigrants be detained until their cases are adjudicated or have them deported.

Speaking on the Brian Mudd Show Thursday morning, Scott said he wants the number of migrants coming into the country and staying to be back down to the levels where they were under former President Trump.

"This is a lawless administration. They want a completely open border and that's what they've got."

He believes terrorists and criminals are coming across, along with the more than 300,000 illegal border crossers in December. That set a new monthly record.

There are two deadlines to avoid a partial government shutdown, January 19th and February 2nd.
