Vice President Harris making history yesterday by casting the most deciding votes in the Senate chamber by a vice president.
Harris' 32 tiebreaking Senate votes top a 191-year-old record held by John C. Calhoun.
The historic vote was to confirm Loren L. AliKhan to be a U.S. district judge for the District of Columbia.
To mark the record vote, Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer presented Harris with a golden gavel.
