A changing of the guard in Miami Beach as former Commissioner Steven Meiner is officially sworn-in as the new mayor. Meiner vows to make the city the safest and most residential-friendly by coming up with creative ways to keep the peace, like an idea he has to ban weapons in places where alcohol is sold. Meiner takes the reins from Mayor Dan Gelber who has held the position for the past six years. In addition to the new mayor, new Commissioners Tanya Bhatt, David Suarez and Joseph Magazine are also being sworn in.
