NBC 6's Jackie Nespral Speaks With Ex-Miami Dade Top Cop Freddy Ramirez

This will mark the first public sit-down from now ex-Miami-Dade Police Director Freddy Ramirez. The now former police director is returning to the force but in a new role. Mayor Daniella Levine Cava last week announced that Freddy Ramirez will be Senior Advisor for Policing and Transition. He'll start in January after he's medically cleared.

Ramirez, 52, is recovering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound he suffered this summer during a domestic confronation at a Tampa-area hotel.

Part of Ramirez' job will be to help the department transition to working with an elected sheriff. Interim director Stephanie Daniel, effetcive today, is the permanent leader for the department pending next year's election for a county sheriff.
