Miami-Dade College and Miami-Dade County announce a new scholarship program that allows all high schoolers - or those with a graduation equivalent - the opportunity for a "zero cost" Associate in Arts or Associate in Science degree.
Miami-Dade College President Madeline Pumariega calls this Future Ready Miami-Dade Scholarship a life changer: "Every single senior in Miami-Dade County Public Schools, our private schools, charter schools knows that there's a place for them to pursue that higher education."
Anyone who can prove financial need, have a high school, or equivalent, diploma and maintained at least a 2.0 GPA qualifies.
It's expected to help about two-thousand students a year.
The County has committed almost three-million-dollars to fund the program for multiple years.
