Sheriff: "Be Safe" as Key West Fantasy Fest Kicks Off Friday

(Key West, Fla) - The ten-day annual Fantasy Festival begins Friday in Key West and Monroe County Sheriff Rick Ramsay is asking residents and visitors to be safe, follow the rules and keep your clothes on. Nudity is against the law in Key West.

Sheriff Ramsay also says don't bring coolers, backpacks, or weapons into the festival zone. Also, there will be a stepped-up law enforcement presence.

The sheriff says even though this year's theme is "Follow the Yellow Brick Road," you may not need to drive at all because the island is small. Walking or taking a cab helps prevent DUI arrests.

Fantasy Fest ends Sunday October 29th, and the two-day Goombay Festival also begins tomorrow.
