Former Condo Association President Arrested for Alleged Reign of Terror

Miami Beach, FL - A former president of a South Beach condominium association was taken into custody on Sunday following allegations of sending threatening text messages to the condo's residents earlier this year.

According to police, the disturbing pattern of behavior began on April 18th when Marc Joseph Maggisano, a former president of a South Beach condominium association, sent a series of violent and derogatory text messages to a board member, including threats of violence and derogatory language.

The messages included chilling statements such as "Im goin got (sic) sure you’re dead within 48 hours," and "I will murder you shortly."

The pattern of behavior continued on April 29th when Maggisano attempted to set a resident’s truck on fire around 2:30 in the morning.

Maggisano allegedly ignited a cloth and threw it into the gas tank of the truck, but the attempt failed.

The truck owner later noticed issues with fuel absorption, leading to suspicion of vandalism.

Maggisano was identified through surveillance footage, with the arson attempt causing $7,500 worth of damage to the truck.

It appears that Maggisano may have left the South Florida area between the time of the incidents in April and his arrest.

Authorities were alerted to his presence after he received a package at his apartment on Saturday.

A license plate reader later detected his vehicle on the MacArthur Causeway, leading to his arrest on Sunday.

Maggisano was arrested on charges of attempted arson, criminal mischief, and making written threats to kill.

He is being held in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $12,500 bond.
