(Miami, Fla) - Governor Ron DeSantis says his presidential comeback candidacy has momentum after his campaign raised $15 million in the third quarter.
With the wind at his back, DeSantis is taking a campaign swing through Florida holding and event in Tampa this afternoon and a fundraiser in Miami tonight.
VIP roundtable tickets are selling for $11,600 a head, according to the invitation. Among the attendees, Lt. Governor Jeannette Nuñez, Florida Education Commissioner Manny Diaz, Jr. and DeSantis's campaign manager James Uthmeier.
Some Republican strategists, however, see the wind coming out of DeSantis' sails and his campaign running on fumes.
A new Florida survey shows former President Trump trouncing DeSantis in Florida with nearly 60% support in the state.
Also, Trump's campaign raised $45 million in Q3.
Republicans say they like the Governor's job performance, but they prefer former President as the 2024 nominee.
Per a poll conducted Oct. 1-2, Trump has 57% support among 500 likely voters in the Florida Republican Primary, with DeSantis mired at 22%.
DeSantis is the only candidate in double digits, so he has a firm grasp on second place. Nikki Haley, at 7%, is in third place, and no other candidate has more than 2% support.
