BRADENTON -- A Manatee County man faces several charges relating to the January 6th, 2021 Capitol riot.
Federal prosecutors for the Middle District of Florida say John Anthony Schubert III of Bradenton was part of the initial breach of the Capitol, and encouraged others to join him. They say he pushed at police lines and threw a punch at one officer, then was sprayed with a chemical irritant. Prosecutors identified a photo of Schubert entering through a broken window next to the Senate Wing doors around 2:21 p.m., then turning to help his parents, Amy Schubert and John Schubert Jr., climb through.
Schubert was arrested Wednesday and made a first appearance in the Middle District of Florida. He joins more than 1,100 people charged with crimes related to the breach of the Capitol.
