Orlando, FL — A woman has filed a lawsuit against Walt Disney Parks and Resorts alleging that she sustained severe injuries from a "painful wedgie" during a visit to Typhoon Lagoon water park several years ago.

According to court records, the lawsuit was filed on Wednesday, outlining an incident that took place during a visit to Typhoon Lagoon in October 2019, which was meant to be a celebration of the victim's 30th birthday.

The incident occurred while the woman was riding "The Humunga Kowabunga," a towering, high-speed waterslide known for its near-vertical, five-story drop.

As detailed in the lawsuit, the woman followed the ride's instructions at the top of the slide, positioning herself with her legs crossed at her ankles.

However, her experience took a turn as she was "violently slammed downward against the slide" during her descent.

The court filing reveals that the impact of the slide caused the woman's swimsuit to become painfully wedged between her legs, with water forcefully pushed inside her body.

Consequently, the woman immediately experienced excruciating internal pain, leading to her urgent hospitalization.

Medical records, detailed in the lawsuit, confirm the severity of her injuries, which included severe lacerations, damage to internal organs, and the development of a hernia.

The lawsuit levels accusations of negligence against Disney, citing their failure to adequately warn riders about the potential risks associated with the waterslide.

It also alleges that Disney did not provide sufficient guidance to riders regarding the use of protective swimwear.

The victim is seeking compensation for damages exceeding $50,000.
