Monroe County, FL - A 43-year-old Florida man was arrested after leaving behind a stolen truck while panhandling at a Key Largo construction supply store.
The Monroe County Sheriff's Office arrested Keith Bryant Taylor on charges of grand theft of a motor vehicle.
According to police, deputies received a call around 8:52 a.m. regarding a man panhandling at a construction supply store in Key Largo.
Witnesses at the scene told deputies that the man had arrived in a white 2004 Dodge pickup truck, initiated conversations with customers seeking money, and then departed on foot, abandoning the truck at the store.
The puzzling scenario took an even more bewildering turn when authorities identified the suspect walking along U.S. 1 shortly afterward.
Upon investigating, deputies discovered that the truck left behind had been reported stolen from Key West.
