TAMPA -- Hillsborough County is asking all residential or commercial property owners who suffered damage from Hurricane Idalia to register with the county.
There are a couple of reasons why.
C.K. Moore with Hillsborough emergency management says his office can help people use local resources to help with problems such as food or shelter.
The other reason is that Hillsborough is not one of the 16 counties designated by FEMA as eligible for individual assistance because of Idalia. Hillsborough is applying to join that list, and having records of damage will help.
Property owners who suffered damage may sign up on the phone by calling (813) 272-5900 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays and choosing option 9. Property owners may also register at this link.
