Man and Teen Arrested for Pointing Firearms at South Florida Police

Miami, FL - A man and teenager have been arrested after they allegedly pointed guns at detectives who were conducting surveillance near a South Florida home last week.

According to police, while detectives were conducting surveillance in the area, they observed a silver Nissan Maxima in the vicinity of Northwest Second Avenue and 13th Street on Friday.

Two armed individuals exited the vehicle and reportedly aimed their firearms at detectives.

Quickly responding to the threat, detectives retreated to a secure location while requesting backup.

Following the incident, the suspects attempted to flee the scene, but officers managed to intercept and detain them.

The suspects have been identified as 17-year-old Markeem Donald Curry and 22-year-old Shyquaveon Antauris Davis.

Curry and Davis face multiple charges, including aggravated assault, unlawful display of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and improper exhibition of a firearm with prejudice.

Miami Police Chief Manny Morales issued a statement regarding the arrests on Saturday, commending the quick thinking and professionalism displayed by the law enforcement personnel involved in the incident.
