Miami-Dade, FL - A 79-year-old man is facing charges after allegedly involving his 13-year-old daughter in an attack on his girlfriend.
According to the Miami-Dade Police Department, officers responded to a call at the residence of Terry Anthony West around 1 a.m. Tuesday.
Officers spoke with the victim, who informed them that an argument took place between her and West.
Police say the verbal dispute escalated to physical violence when West instructed his 13-year-old daughter to strike the victim.
The daughter complied, striking the victim multiple times, prompting the victim to flee.
After taking the initial report, officers left the scene as West and his daughter were not present.
Approximately 15 minutes later, police were called back to the residence after the victim had attempted to re-enter the house by breaking a window with a metal pipe, as West had reportedly changed the locks and removed some of the victim's belongings without her permission.
Upon their return, police discovered that West and his teenage daughter were back at the residence, and the victim had been attacked for a second time.
West's arrest report states he took the pipe from his girlfriend and handed it to his 13-year-old daughter, who proceeded to engage in a physical altercation with the woman.
West joined in on the attack, allegedly grabbing his girlfriend by the neck and attempting to strangle her.
The arrest report states that West instructed his daughter to strike the woman with the pipe, but the attempt failed.
A witness at the scene supported the victim's account.
West was taken into custody on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, domestic battery by strangulation, battery, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
His daughter was also taken into custody on juvenile charges.
As of Tuesday afternoon, West remained detained at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center with a bond set at $12,500.
