Central Florida - Comcast has announced the activation of 141,000 complimentary Xfinity Wi-Fi hotspots across Central Florida in anticipation of Hurricane Idalia.

The move aims to facilitate connectivity for residents as the hurricane is forecasted to strike the state as a Category 3 on Wednesday.

Comcast has also expanded its Xfinity Wi-Fi hotspot network to span 37 counties along Florida’s west coast, stretching from Lee County in the south to Bay County in the north, and extending across Nassau County.

The hotspot network, accessible both indoors and outdoors, encompasses locations like shopping districts, parks, and businesses.

It includes the following Central Florida counties:

  • Citrus County
  • Lake County
  • Marion County
  • Orange County
  • Sumter County
  • Volusia County

Residents within range of these hotspots can connect by selecting the "xfinitywifi" network on their devices.

Upon launching a browser, users will be presented with sign-in options for both Comcast customers and non-customers.

Customers can seamlessly sign in using their account credentials for future automatic connection to Xfinity Wi-Fi hotspots.

For non-Xfinity internet subscribers, a "Get Connected" section is available. By agreeing to the Terms and Conditions, non-customers can access the hotspot.

These non-customers will have the ability to renew their complimentary sessions every two hours.
