Florida's junior U.S. senator is pushing for the termination of a Palm Beach County school principal and four staff members who were charged with a crime.

Senator Rick Scott has sent a letter to Schools Superintendent Mike Burke, demanding that the principal of Palm Beach Central High, two assistant principals, a chorus teacher and a behavioral specialist be fired after they were charged last week with not reporting the suspected sexual assault of a 15 year old girl.

Darren Edgecomb and the others were all reassigned to positions in which they will have no contact with students. But Scott says they should not be receiving taxpayer money after failing to protect students.

Former Park Vista High School Principal Reggie Myers has been named interim superintendent at Palm Beach Central to start the new school year next week.
