A record-breaking sea turtle nesting season on Florida's Atlantic coast got even better over the weekend.
Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Juno Beach said last week that the record was broken when 20,998 nests were recorded Wednesday on the 9 and a half mile stretch of beach the facility monitors in Juno, Jupiter and Tequesta.
The number of nests had climbed to just below 22,000 on Sunday. That includes just under 15,000 loggerhead nests, 6,700 green sea turtle nests and 215 leatherback nests.
Sea Turtle Nesting Season runs through October statewide.
