Monday marks 44 years since Ted Bundy was found guilty of murdering two FSU students.
A jury on July 24, 1979 convicted Bundy for the deaths of Lisa Levy and Margaret Bowman at a sorority house near Florida State University, but his trial was moved to Miami after lawyers said they couldn't find an impartial jury in Tallahassee.
The trial was the first one to be nationally televised and it took the jury less than seven hours to come back with their verdicts, guilty on all counts.
A week later, Miami-Dade County Judge Edward Cowart sentenced Bundy to death, offering the serial killer and former law student these words at the time.
"You’re a bright young man. You’d have made a good lawyer. I’d have loved to have you practice in front of me. But you went another way, partner. Take care of yourself."
The sentence was carried out on January 24, 1989 via the electric chair at Florida State Prison in Raiford.
Ted Bundy is believed to have killed more than 30 young women and his youngest victim, a 12-year old girl.
