Some people love them, while others hate them, but Miami-Dade Commissioner Raquel Regalado says just about everyone can agree pockets of Pinecrest are packed with peacocks.
That's where their Peafowl Mitigation Program comes in.
"It's kind of neutering the cats. It's the same thing. Pick them up, you know, fix them, send them out again," says Regalado.
Through the pilot program, which launches this afternoon, information will be collected about the size of the peacock population, how far they move, and if the program should be expanded to other communities including South Miami, Coral Gables and Coconut Grove.
All have had issues with the colorful, sometimes loud and aggressive birds that can damage property.
