Officer Arrested for Alleged Inappropriate Relationship with Teenage Girl

Miami, FL - A South Florida police officer has been arrested following accusations of engaging in an inappropriate sexual relationship with a 17-year-old girl.

Jose Robell Hernandez, a 28-year-old Miramar Police officer, appeared before Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Gisela Cardonne Ely on Friday, where he was instructed to have no contact with the victim.

The relationship came to light on April 13th when the victim experienced a mental health crisis after a pregnancy scare.

During interviews with Miami Gardens Police and Fort Lauderdale Police, the victim revealed that she had been involved in a consensual sexual relationship with Hernandez.

According to the arrest report, the teenager met Hernandez on Tinder in March.

Hernandez and the victim arranged to meet at a hotel in Hialeah, where they undressed, engaged in conversation and kissed.

The report states that sexual activity took place during the encounter.

The victim disclosed that Hernandez's communication decreased following the hotel encounter, and she attempted to reach out to him but found that things were not the same.

The victim also told police that she never revealed her age to Hernandez.

When the victim informed Hernandez about a potential pregnancy due to missed menstrual cycles, Hernandez allegedly responded via text, denying the possibility of impregnation due to medical shots.

Hernandez was released following his court appearance after posting bond.

Miramar Police Chief Delrish Moss issued a statement emphasizing the department's commitment to professionalism and accountability, stating that any misconduct allegations are taken seriously and will not be tolerated.

Hernandez has been suspended without pay as the criminal investigation into his relationship with the teen continues.
