TAMPA -- Federal prosecutors have revealed the raid on a Tampa City Council member's house earlier this month is tied to leaks of communications and video from Fox News and its former host, Tucker Carlson. But right now, there are still more questions than answers about their investigation.
The Tampa Bay Times reported last week that it obtained a letter that a federal prosecutor sent to Fox News, instructing it to preserve information and records as a "potential victim-witness" in a computer hacking investigation. Two people confirmed with the Times that this is tie to the raid involving Tim Burke, husband of Tampa City Council member Lynn Hurtak. Burke is a media consultant who ran his wife's campaign. Vanity Fair identifies him as a former member of the hacker group Anonymous. His social media accounts and websites have been inactive since the raid. Hurtak is not considered part of the investigation.
Leaked clips targeted in the probe include unaired segments of Carlson's interview with Kanye West.
Fox News let Carlson go in April, after settling a lawsuit with Dominion Voting Systems for $787 million.
