(Miami, FL) -- Miami Mayor Francis Suarez is being investigated by the Miami-Dade Commission on Ethics and Public Trust for allegedly helping a local developer who is seeking permits for a $70 million project in Coconut Grove.
According to the Miami Herald, Location Ventures is developing URBIN Coconut Grove with Mayor Suarez as an alleged paid consultant and advisor.
A lawsuit filed earlier this month against the developer by a former executive allegedly revealed $10,000 monthly payments to Suarez "for unknown services."
A spokeswoman for the mayor’s office says the allegations that Suarez helped a private client are “absolutely false.”
Suarez’s spokesperson added: “It is regrettable that The Miami Herald had dedicated so many resources to assassinating the mayor’s character while ignoring his work to make Miami one of America’s foremost cities.”
