Naked Man Crashes Truck, Arrested for DUI and Burglary

Volusia County, FL - A naked man crashed his truck into a utility pole leading to his arrest on multiple charges, including burglary and DUI.

A Deltona man found himself in a series of peculiar events on Sunday morning, leading to his arrest by the Volusia County Sheriff's Office.

The incident began with a truck crash into a utility pole on Fort Smith Blvd., followed by the suspect showing up naked at a nearby residence on Trade Street and engaging in suspicious behavior.

According to authorities, deputies were called to the scene of the crash at around 2:14 a.m.

Upon arrival, they discovered a pickup truck that had collided with a utility pole, severing it completely.

However, the driver was nowhere to be found.

Less than an hour later, deputies received reports of a burglary in progress at a residence on Trade Street.

Witnesses described a naked man frantically banging on the door.

Responding deputies swiftly arrived at the scene and encountered a man identified as 39-year-old Kevin Gardner.

Gardner exhibited visible injuries on his face and legs. Investigation revealed that Gardner was the registered owner of the crashed truck.

However, he initially claimed that the vehicle had been stolen.

Gardner's account of the incident changed multiple times, with him later stating that he had experienced seizures and could not recall any details, according to deputies.

During the course of their investigation, law enforcement administered a breath test, which indicated that Gardner's blood-alcohol content exceeded the legal limit.

This further compounded his legal troubles.

As a result of his actions, Gardner was taken into custody and is now facing an array of charges.

These include burglary, indecent exposure, criminal mischief, resisting an officer without violence, leaving the scene of a crash, driving under the influence (DUI), and three counts of DUI with property damage.

To secure his release, a bond of $14,000 has been set.
