Lee County, FL - A Florida Sheriff's Deputy has been arrested for allegedly leaking confidential information through Snapchat to alert criminal street racing groups and impede ongoing investigations.
According to the Lee County Sheriff's Office, former Deputy Girary Uzen was apprehended for leaking images displaying sensitive details pertaining to a specific program targeting illegal street races, which were exclusively accessible through the LCSO internet.
The information, crucial to combating criminal street racing, was intended solely for law enforcement use and not for public dissemination.
After a two-week investigation, authorities successfully identified Uzen as the person responsible for the misconduct.
Uzen had served with the Lee County Sheriff's Office for a period of nine months, having completed all requisite training.
During a press conference, investigators revealed that Uzen had deliberately uploaded four photos onto his Snapchat account with the explicit intention of providing a warning to street racing groups and obstructing the ongoing investigation.
Uzen was taken into custody and booked at the Collier County Jail on charges of disclosure of confidential criminal justice information.
