Miami, FL - A South Florida man has been arrested for killing another man by striking the victim in the head with a broken piece of sidewalk.
According to police, 58-year-old Albert William Bethea was arrested after being involved in a fight that ended up taking another man's life.
Witnesses told police they saw Bethea being "sucker punched" by the victim, then running towards the sidewalk to grab a broken piece of sidewalk and throwing it at the other man, striking him in the head, before picking up the piece of cement and striking the victim in the head four more times.
Bethea then stomped on the victim's head with his boots, causing serious injuries, including a brain bleed.
The victim was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center, where he succumbed to his injuries and passed away on Sunday.
Bethea told police he was defending himself and that he'd been shot in the head while being detained.
The arresting officers reported that Bethea continued to kick and strike the back of their vehicle while being transported to the police station.
He's currently being held without bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
