A shock for school board members and parents in one Florida county Tuesday night.
"This letter serves as my official notification that I plan to resign my position."
Martin County Schools Superintendent John Millay announced his resignation, effective at the end of June.
He didn't give a reason, just saying the time is right.
Dr. Millay signed a three and a half year contract with the school district in September 2020 and makes a salary of $170,000 annually.
At least one school board member thinks they may be able to change his mind.
"If we want to keep him, we need to show that we value him, we support him and we want to do some type of contract."
Christia Roberts says she wants the board to meet with Millay privately.
