Firefighters: Conditions Near Doral Fire Are Dangerous

As firefighters work to finally put out a stubborn blaze burning in a Doral waste-to-energy facility, the conditions have become dangerous for people living and working in the area.

The smoke which had been dissipating is not anymore.... Environmental Protection Agency samples are coming back with higher levels of particulates in the north fence line of the facility. Jackson Memorial Hospital Chief Medical Officer Dr. Hany Atallah stresses the conditions aren't so bad that people cannot go out safely. They just should mask up.

"The safest thing we're telling people is to stay indoors obviously run the air conditioners, keep the windows closed and wear a mask if you have to go outside," said Dr. Atallah.

Doral Glades and Doral Legacy Parks are closed until further notice. Outdoor school events in the area are canceled through at least Monday.
