Wild scene at a Homestead Publix over the weekend ... a man waving a gun in the parking lot shot dead by cops.
Miami-Dade police say a security guard was told about a man looking into a car parked at the Publix on Saturday night.
The guard went to see what the man was doing when he pulled out a gun according to cops.
Cops pleaded with the man to put down the weapon before he was shot by an off-duty officer.
The suspect airlifted to Jackson South Medical Center, where he later died.
No other injuries are reported.
