Unpacking President Biden’s 60 Minutes interview from Sunday night is the equivalent of opening the smallest box under the Christmas tree only to realize once you open it that it’s the best gift. I mean, on one hand you hear Joe Biden is doing 60 Minutes and your initial thought is probably that you have laundry you need to get caught up on. If you think about it a little longer you realize, hey, this means he’s actually being interviewed by someone, which his handlers never allow. That alone has possibilities for it to provide more entertainment value than the laundry. And yes, even in a pretaped and heavily edited environment he delivered. That is if you, like me, view Joe Biden as a parody of an actual president and have become inclined to use humor as a coping mechanism for his policy. So, about that... On the question of inflation, he said... Well, first of all, let's put this in perspective. Inflation rate month to month was just-- just an inch, hardly at all. When pressed by Scott Pelley, which to his credit did a credible job with the interview, he said. But it was 8.2% or-- 8.2% before. I mean, it's not-- you're ac-- we act-- make it sound like all of a sudden, "My god, it went to 8.2%." It's been – To which, in an effort to help the president complete a sentence - Pelley said it’s the highest inflation rate in 40 years. Or the new economic measure of an inch as the case maybe. We should have absolute confidence he has command of the issue. And then Pelley pressed the President on the economy and prospects for a recession to which he said: We're growing entire new industries. Six hundred and ninety-five, I think it is, or eighty-five thousand new manufacturing jobs just since I've become president in United States. Right, so we’re avoiding a recession with entire new industries, six hundred and ninety-five or eight-five thousand manufacturing jobs. Got it. You can really tell with his economic acumen and general prowess how he was able to play a pivotal role in negotiating the end of the rail strike that never happened and ending the crisis that was being manufactured in the news media. I can tell you my economic concerns are no more. But then in a moment of cognitive clarity the President answered the question as to if the pandemic was over.
